The Prairie Storytellers Guild offers family-friendly entertainment for Peoria area events.
We are a passionate group of storytellers dedicated to preserving and sharing the timeless art of oral tradition. In a world dominated by digital entertainment, we believe in the magic that happens when a skilled storyteller weaves a tale that captivates an audience. Our stories have the power to transport listeners to different worlds, spark imagination, and create connections across generations.
Based in the heart of Peoria, Illinois, our Guild celebrates the rich tapestry of stories from our local history, folklore, and beyond. Our members range from experienced performers to enthusiastic beginners, all united by our love for a well-told tale. We host regular events throughout the year, including our popular annual "Liars Contest" where storytellers compete to spin the most entertaining tall tales that keep the audience guessing what's truth and what's fiction.
Many of our performances feature historically-rooted stories that bring Peoria's colorful past to life. From tales of the Illinois River's bustling riverboat days to stories of the area's notable historical figures, we help preserve our local heritage through the power of storytelling. Whether we're performing at schools, retirement communities, festivals, or private events, we're committed to sharing the joy, wisdom, and fun that comes from a good story well told.
